Online Medical Office Assistant Certification
Graduates of the Medical Office Assistant programs will have the knowledge and ability required for entry-level employment in the health administrative assistant field. They may obtain employment as medical office assistants in physicians' offices, clinics, public or private hospitals, nursing homes, or community health centers. Medical administrative positions are also available in research and care agencies, pharmaceutical firms, medical supply firms and related service businesses. Students in this program will receive training in general medical office procedures including scheduling appointments, patient records, and filing. Students receive comprehensive skill-building fundamentals of medical and pharmaceutical terminology. Medical transcription, medical billing, and a variety of computer programs are included. Coursework also includes: keyboarding/word processing; medical coding, billing, terminology, transcription, office procedures; and database programs, such as Excel and Access.
