Multimedia Courses Online
Multimedia developers use the skills of computer programmers and graphic designers to integrate graphics, text and digital audio and video into a specific computer program. These programs are used in producing computer-based training materials, CD-ROMs, information kiosks, multimedia presentations and entertainment/entertainment products. Programs offer diplomas, as well as associates, bachelors’ and graduate degrees. Courses teach students how to take newly created tools and invent ways in which these tools can be used; develop client multimedia programs; coordinate and prepare all creative aspects of the program; and supervise the production of multimedia products. Subjects in drawing, design studio and art and design theory give students a solid grounding in visual communication, while a sequence of specialized digital imaging subjects cover aspects of time-based media and interactivity. Multimedia developers can specialize as computer-based graphic designers, instructional designers (developing online courses and educational materials), digital video/sound editors or animators, although many use a combination of these skills. Graduates of Multimedia programs find careers in various sectors, including freelance, educational institutions, mining companies, marketing or advertising firms, and software development companies.
